Prosper Canada is a national charity dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for Canadians living in poverty through program and policy innovation. They work with governments, businesses and community groups to develop and promote financial policies, programs and resources that transform lives and foster the prosperity of all Canadians.
Tax refunds and government benefits can be a major source of income for food insecure households. However, accessing benefits through the tax system is complicated and some struggle to file their tax returns and claim these benefits. The Centre is supporting Prosper to improve & expand services to help low-income Canadians access government benefits to boost their income and reduce food insecurity, including scaling Benefits Access Services like the Benefits Wayfinder tool. This work will help identify more individuals access the benefits they are eligible for and will provide support for community organizations to increase the reach of their benefits access services.
