Fred Victor

Fred Victor is a social service charitable organization that fosters long-lasting and positive change in the lives of homeless and low-income people living across Toronto. More than 3000 people access their programs and services including affordable and transitional housing, emergency and respite services, job training and counselling, community mental health outreach, and more.

The transition from shelters to long-term permanent housing can be a difficult journey and represents a high-risk period for recidivism to homelessness. People are adjusting to independent living while earning very low-incomes, and many lack or have lost foundational life skills such as managing money, shopping, and cooking. From 2023-2026, the Centre is partnering with Fred Victor’s Housing Access and Support Services team to provide financial support for food and food skills workshops to households as they transition to permanent affordable housing to determine the impact of short-term food security on long-term housing and wellbeing outcomes.
